  What are cord blood cells?

Even though their name might not sound like it, umbilical cord blood cells are a category of adult stem cells. They come from the umbilical cord blood of a newborn child, and are not pluripotent. As adult stem cells, umbilical cord blood stem cells form all types of blood and immune cells.
