CAMR LAUDS HOUSE OVERRIDE ATTEMPT

“The Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research (CAMR) thanks the U.S. House of Representatives for its efforts today to override President Bush’s veto of the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act.

“While there were not enough votes for the override, CAMR would like to recognize the leadership and valiant efforts of Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE) and Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO). We also would like to thank the bipartisan effort of Senators Frist, Hatch, Harkin, Specter, Feinstein, Kennedy and Smith for their unfailing dedication to this issue and this particular legislation.

“We would also like to thank every Senator and Congressperson who voted ‘yea’ on the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act. Your stamp of approval speaks volumes to the millions of voters across America who believe in the hope that stem cell research provides.

“To the 100 million Americans suffering from cancer, Parkinson’s Alzheimer’s, diabetes, spinal cord injuries and other debilitating diseases and disorders, please know the Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research will continue to fight the good fight to support federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.”
